Hey everyone!

About time for some further news…It’s actually time to reveal the band’s new line-up!

As presented on the promotional photo above, DEW-SCENTED’s brand new 2012 line-up is as follows (pictured from left to right):

Rory Hansen – Guitars
Marvin Vriesde – Guitars
Leif Jensen – Vocals
Joost van der Graaf – Bass
Koen Herfst – Drums

DEW-SCENTED’s vocalist Leif Jensen comments as follows: “I’m more than proud to be able to present you a new chapter in the history of DEW-SCENTED! By early 2011, after 4 weeks of European touring with Nile, it showed clearly that our previous “Invocation” line-up was collapsing and one member after another left the fold for different reasons. We decided to play some final festival shows together in the summer and then after Party.San Open Air and Brutal Assault Festival, DEW-SCENTED went away from the spotlight in order to re-group and regain new focus. And here we finally are again, back with an improved line-up and a really strong new album coming up in July: “Icarus”!”

The new line-up (re-)introduces Marvin Vriesde (Severe Torture, ex Blo.Torch) as main guitarist and songwriter. Not a stranger to DEW-SCENTED’s path of life, Vriesde’s ties with the band go as far as back as 1996, when he played lead guitars for DEW-SCENTED on the band’s first ever proper tour (With Edge Of Sanity, Lake Of tears and Sadist), as well as for some additional shows supporting Morbid Angel. He later on returned, among other occasions, as live-session guitarist for a European tour with Cannibal Corpse in 2002 or also for runs in Europe (With Nevermore and Mercenary), Japan

(With High On Fire and Misery Signals) and North America (With Vader and Decapitated) all throughout 2005, as well as appearing with guitars-leads on the “Issue VI” album and also performing on the “Turn To Ash” video clip.

Jensen adds: “I’m truly happy to have finally managed to team up with my buddy Marvin in DEW-SCENTED. Being one of my closest friends in music and the band’s ‘longest running companion’, it’s amazing to be able to finally put the band’s musical present and future in his hands, giving our music a new safe home with his talent and dedication. I can’t wait for you all to hear the great start-up results we achieved with “Icarus”!”

Marvin Vriesde checks in to comment as follows: “Me and DEW-SCENTED have a long history together. I helped the band out on several occasions in the past, studio as well as live situations. So when Leif suggested joining forces for real on the new record I was thrilled! This allowed me to write DEW-SCENTED songs that I would really want to hear from the band, from a fan’s point of view.”

Drummer Koen Herfst (I Chaos, live session for Epica, etc. / www.koenherfst.com) and bassist Joost van der Graaf (I Chaos, ex Creepmime) rounded off the “Icarus” line-up organically, as Vriesde explains in regards to the pre-production process for the new album: “The writing process went really smooth and focused. Me and Leif were bouncing all these awesome ideas around. We realized that these songs deserved to be recorded in the best form possible. That’s why I asked a good local friend of mine, Koen Herfst, to handle the drums. On his turn he brought in Joost van der Graaf to handle the bass duties for the album. Both are amazing musicians…and that’s what sets “Icarus” apart for me. I think everyone brought something extra to the table, which really took the album to a higher level. “Icarus” is a really heavy album, but it somehow has a darker feel to it in comparison to the previous DEW-SCENTED albums.”

Last but not least, guitarist Rory Hansen (I Chaos, ex Blo.Torch) was added to the band’s ranks as second guitarist shortly after the album recordings. On recommendation of all the other three new members, his presence paves the way for a really skilled and menacing dual-guitar-team.

The new DEW-SCENTED line-up will make their debut shows on July 20th at Metalsplash Festival (www.metal-splash.de) and July 21st at Queens Of Metal Festival (www.queens-of-metal.com) in order to also present the “Icarus” material live on stage in perfect timing for the album’s release.

In order to allow a closer look at the studio work for “Icarus” and also to showcase some of the new bits of music, a second online teaser for the album was now launched via the YouTube channel of Germany’s Metal4 (www.metal4.de). Check it out here:

New DEW-SCENTED announce new album title and unveil artwork; first online teaser video launched!

April 30th, 2012

Hey guys!

Just as promised the other day, we can now reveal that the new DEW-SCENTED album will be entitled “Icarus” and also present you the stunning artwork designed by Björn Goosses / Killustrations (www.killustrations.com). Check it out here:

Icarus

The album’s main theme could be described a modern-times, very apocalyptic adaptation of elements of the “Icarus” myth, using a lot of its symbolism while interlinking with several other personal or observant subjects, in true DEW-SCENTED fashion. Without being close to a ‘concept album’, “Icarus” has a pretty coherent lyrical flow and that helps to enhance and also to intentionally enlarge the atmosphere and vibe created by the music.

Here is a first sneak peak video teaser from the studio: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=giFrrGP6Ojw

“Icarus” was recorded at Soundlodge Studio (www.soundlodge.de) with Jörg Uken (God Dethroned, Suicidal Angels, Nightfall, etc.) as producer and will be released by late July 2012 via Metal Blade Records in Europe and Prosthetic Records in North America.

New DEW-SCENTED album recordings finished; Release scheduled for late July! New tourdates!

April 23rd, 2012

Hey Thrashers!

Good things are falling into place at last again…

DEW-SCENTED have just finished studio recordings for a new album! We once again recorded at Soundlodge Studio (www.soundlodge.de) in the deepest heart of Northern Germany with Jörg Uken (God Dethroned, Suicidal Angels, Nightfall, etc.) as producer. We have worked with Jörg already on “Incinerate” for the recordings and then on the previous album “Invocation” for recordings and mix. It was an absolute pleasure to be able to team up with him again and the time we worked on the new music together in his halls pretty much went flying by! The best part however is: The final mix turned out really, really HEAVY, so much we can tell you already!!! Some songtitles off the new album are: “Sworn To Obey”, “Reawakening”, “Storm Within” and “Gleaming Like Silver”.

Leif recording his vocals at Soundlodge Studio…

The new album will be released by late July 2012 via our good partners Metal Blade Records in Europe and Prosthetic Records in North America. The artwork was once again created by our buddie Björn Goosses / Killustrations (www.killustrations.com), who we have actually partnered with since 2003’s “Impact” release, so it’s been almost a full decade! Wow! The new album’s artwork looks totally stunning and we can’t wait to share it with all of you soon! We are right now finishing off the work on the layouts and just did a promo photo session this past weekend, so all things are rolling forwards…

We also have some brief update as far as live-shows: Unfortunately we were forced to cancel our appearance at Chronical Moshers open air festival on June 9th due to logistical complications on our end. We would like to apologize to the good people at CMOA / Metalclub Reichenbach. We were truly looking forward to playing their Anniversary event, but it simply wasn’t meant to be! Hope we can make up for it in the future!?! Deranged from Sweden are replacing us there, so make sure to support them by attending and joining the party! Find more details here: www.metalclub-reichenbach.de

What’s going on…?!

October 16th, 2011
DEW-SCENTED 2011 at Brutal Assault Festival, Czech Republic

DEW-SCENTED 2011 at Brutal Assault Festival, Czech Republic

Greetings Thrashers!

As you will have already noticed by now, things are rather quiet for DEW-SCENTED in the public eye. However, things are actually turbulent and challenging behind closed doors, so we wanted to give you a brief update with what’s going on…

New studio album:
Earlier this year we had decided to stop playing shows (apart from a handful of pre-scheduled summer festivals) until at least spring 2012 in order to re-group and to prepare a next studio album recording session. In fact, that’s what is mainly keeping us busy right now. We are making good progress and are already up to song idea number 8. Some truly killer stuff coming up and quite some surprises along the way too. If all stays according to our masterplan, we would have a new release available by mid of next year!

Live shows:
We are soon to announce our next live dates, starting out April 2012! The first confirmed gig has already come in: We are playing at the comeback edition of the “Queens Of Metal” open air festival, taking place July 19 – 21, 2012 in Steinbach-Langenbach (nearby Suhl), Germany. Other bands already confirmed to appear are Exodus, Powerwolf, Vader, Milking The Goatmachine, Dark Age, Criminal and many more. Check out further details here.

South American Invocation:
At long last, the “Invocation” album will be officially and domestically released in South America in the coming weeks. More details will be announced soon, but we are happy to have finally found good partners down there, also for future releases.

Wacken live compilation:
We are pleased to mention that DEW-SCENTED are part of the “Live At Wacken Open Air 2010” 2-CD compilation album, recently released via Golden Core / ZYX. We’ve got 100% live-versions of the two (!) songs “Arise From Decay” and “Never To Return” from our powerful 2010 Wacken show featured on there alongside bands like Arch Enemy, Anvil, Fear Factory, Unleashed, Lock Up, Orphaned Land, UDO, Voivod, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, Rotting Christ and many more. Check out more details here.

Necrodeath

Necrodeath

Necrodeath guest appearance:
DEW-SCENTED’s Leif Jensen is happy to announce that he is featured with some guest vocals on the upcoming “Idiosyncrasy” (Could have been a D-S album title, damn…haha!) album by Italian blackened Thrash Metal legends Necrodeath. Needless to say, this appearance is both an honour and a pleasure! Necrodeath were one of the earliest obscure European thrash bands that Leif discovered when he started to listen to extreme metal and their “Into The Macabre” (1987) and “Fragments Of Insanity” (1989) albums are real classics. Leif first connected with Necrodeath’s drummer Peso when his later band Sadist toured with DEW-SCENTED in 1996 and their paths crossed last time by the end of 2010 when Peso’s Ghostrider (pre-Necrodeath outfit, now re-united) played a show with DEW-SCENTED nearby Milano. Necrodeath’s new album will be released October 25th, 2011 via Scarlet records.

Here is a trailer for the release.

Check out more details on the band’s official website.

Want to check out some recent live-shots? Here are some good ones taken at Party.San Open Air by Daniel / Live Frenzy.

OK, guess that’s all for now…we will be back with more details about the upcoming album soon! In the meantime let us hint you on some really good new albums recently released by Havok (“Time Is Up”), Fleshgod Apocalypse (“Agony”) and Warbringer (“Worlds Torn Asunder”). Also, Vektor have their second album (“Outer Isolation”) coming up in November too and first online samples are promising it to be yet another fantastic record! Go check those bands out…they all deserve your attention and support!
